Police Reform: A Series on Global Proactive and Preventative Planning

In the wake of George Floyd’s death, there have been demands for police reform heard around the world.  India, Canada, France, and Australia are countries struggling to lower complaints of police violence and raise the trust factor amongst the communities they serve.

Our recent presidential election exposed a clear gap in the way Americans view police and their safety.  Political ads touting fear-mongering and lawlessness coming to America’s suburbs were constants themes leading up to the election.  Cries to “defund the police” were met with imminent legislation to reform police procedures.

The Integrity IQ blog will take a snapshot of the United States, as well as other countries, struggle to support and reform law enforcement while protecting the communities experiencing disproportionate police violence.  Our intent is to gather lessons from the world that we all can all learn from and grow.

Although each country has its own cultural differences, a consistent theme runs throughout:  lack of accountability.  Organizations fail when there are no tangible goals or specific criteria of performance.  The organization relies on patterns of practice rather than standards of excellence.  Mediocrity becomes the norm.  This is not meant to be a criticism of all police officers, but it is a sad observation-based reoccurring video footage of confrontations between unarmed people of color being injured or killed by police officers worldwide.  If you are trained to be a hammer, everything may look like a nail.  And when you have been generationally oppressed, everyone may look like an oppressor.  It’s time to break stereotypes and ineffective procedures.  Let’s discuss clear and innovative procedures with achievable goals.

Through these snapshots, Integrity IQ will discuss policing equities that will restore honor to the police profession and peace to the communities they protect.  We will discuss risk mitigation techniques, proactive agency partnerships, and preventative measures to enhance efficiency that is being used throughout the globe.  We will also highlight success stories that enhance police officer engagement and productivity.

Integrity IQ is a thought leader in enterprise restructuring.  We provide tools to enhance organizational performance through a routinized process.  These series of discussions are met to inspire your law enforcement team to realign your organization prior to, and consistent with a legislative mandate.
